Funeral of Khun Tuck Dechapanya
We have announced earlier that local journalist Khun Tuck Dechapanya has died on 02 July 2009. Khun Tuck Dechapanya was 80 years old. His funeral took place on 12 July 2009. HM the King has provided water for Khun Tuck's bathing ceremony, which took place on the 03 July 2009.
For 9 days Khun Tuck's coffin was in Hua Hin Temple and daily chanting took place in the evening. The chanting ceremonies were attended each day by many Thai and foreign Hua Hin residents.
HM the King and the Queen, the Crown Prince and Royal Princesses have each send their funeral wreath, which were place in front Khun Tuck's coffin.
From 2pm on Sunday mourners have started arrive for the funeral ceremony. At about 2:45 pm there was traditional Thai dance performance staged by local schools. By 3pm the temple hall was full of mourners. Among them was the representative of HM the King, Governor of Prachuapkhirikhan, Hua Hin Mayor and other provincial and municipality officials.
From 3pm for about 30 minutes Buddhist monks have lead the prayers, after which about 50 people have offered robs to the monks.
Then number of speakers spoke about Khun Tuck's life and Khun Tuck's family has paid respect to him. Next several provincial and municipality officials have offered robs to the monks and have paid their last respect to Khun Tuck. Later on film about Khun Tuck's life story has been played to the mourners.
After the film, Khun Tuck's Family, provincial and municipality officials have created cordon in the middles of the hall in the anticipation of the flame from HM the King. The flame has arrived after 4:30 from the palace by minivan and has been taken to area where Khun Tuck's coffin was. Then family members, provincial and municipality officials have paid their last respect to Khun Tuck. Then the bell rang and all mourners in the hall have stood up and went to the area with the coffin to give their paper flowers for Khun Tuck's fire and to pay their last respect to him.
